This project has been going on for months. For some reason its been problematic almost from the start and anything that could go wrong did. Now its finished I can't report that I'm happy with it but here is. The Brabham BT33 was Ron Tauranac's first monocoque F1 car and with bit of luck and, dare I say better preparation, Jack Brabham might have been the 1970 World Champion with it. My BT33 is the version from the British GP at Brands Hatch where Jack should have won but for running out of petrol on the last lap because the fuel mixture hadn't been re-set on the starting grid. The body shell is a modified Pre-Wing creation. The modifications included: removing the engine moulding and additng the engine cover which was used at Brands; and making bigger front wings. The running gear consists of the Policar motor/gearbox pod with a brass and wire front end. The rear wheels and tyres are Policar and the front wheels are CB Design which I shall be changing to wider CBs once a consignment from the USA arrives. The main problem I had was with the paintwork and, to a lesser extent, the decals. At first the main body colour wouldn't apply smoothly - a faulty spray nozzle. Then there was the yellow stripe - eventually I got the masking more or less right (after totally stripping the body three times) but the thickness of the stripe paint has turned out to be too thick as I'm sure can be seen in the photos. Anyway it is what it is and at least it looks the part going round my track and next to Jochen Rindt's Lotus 72, the winner at Brands. Regards David
