After my first Brabham BT3, built for a proxy race in 2020, was lost on its way to it´s first racing destination I was happy to get recently another PreWing bodykit of this car, sold to me by my friend Peter Hartmann. So I decided to build the car a 2nd time. It had to be a quick build, because the race I no want to enter the car will be the 1rst Vintage 32 Day, which will be held on Peter´s WestWoodCircuit tomorrow and I started the build this Tuesday afternoon. So, in a hurry, I made several wrong decisions. The first one was to choose a chassis I had never built before (a beardog-racing chassis) instead of my own completely scratchbuilt chassis. Well, I thought it would be a faster job to build a chassis with prefabricated parts, so it would be a „soldering job“ only. Wrong, completely wrong! If you never have handled a type of chassis before, it is always better to choose a solution, which you know well! Nevertheless, I managed to build a modified version of the beardog chassis, because I couldn´t use the upper „frame“ due to the very low body of the Brabham. That´s what the chassis looks like: The 2nd mistake caused by the hurry was to choose the same paint, that I had used for the first car. I had experienced in the first build, that this paint wasn´t easy to handle. I couldn´t use it in an airbrush and the paint adhered poorly to the car´s body. So I decided to do some chipping and to built the car in a weathered „the race is finished“-look. If you look at the car, you can see that it must have been a very hard race... I think for a three day´s build the result isn´t too bad, but next time I´ll start earlier! Best regards, Taffy

Thank you, Peter! I´m using a tripod, so that I can realize large depth of field with long exposure time. Best regards, Taffy

Great to see a new post and know that things are still happening in the F1 1/32 world. Even as a rushed build it looks good Taffy, best of luck in your races. Some photos of the event would be appreciated, if that is possible. Regards Nigel

Thank you very much, Nigel! I agree with you, it is much too quiet in the 1/32 world.... Pictures? The man can be helped! In its first outing I finished 2nd with the car. The event was the 1rst Vintage 32 Day, held on Peter Hartmanns WestWoodCircuit. Here is the LINKOne week later I was able to win with the car in an event, which was held more or less according to the rules of the Vintage 32 days on the fine routed track of Frank Brockermann: LINKBest regards, Taffy

Hello Taffy
I thought I had posted already on your Brabham; a lovely piece of work and I only wish I was able to build a car to that standard in a week.
The photos of the races are excellent; such a high standard of builds and variety of cars. I'm quite envious of your group of scratch builders and racers; in the UK there doesn't seem that much interest in accurate and detailed scratch building at least not at club level.
Best Wishes
David

Thank you very much for your kind comments, Nigel and David!
I am very glad, that I have found the other four guys who share the same interest. We organize our "Vintage 32 days" racing series with one race a year on everyones hometrack. So we have five races per season. They are all gentlemen who know, how much it takes to build a scratchbuilt slotcar on this level and so they are no unpredictable and wild drivers.
There is no clubracing with 32th scale historic formula cars in Germany, too, as far as I know. On club level, there are only a few modern NSR F1 racing series I heard of. Nothing for me....
In 24th scale there were a few classic formula racing series, but I don´t know, if they have survived the pandemic.
Best regards, Taffy
