I built these for the 2010 Halftonners race meeting at Wolverhampton. I built a 1961 Ferrari 156 for Joel Thura, a 1962 Lotus 24 for Paul Elliott and a 1962 Porsche 804 for myself using original Airfix bodyshell. The cars are 90% complete here and are in the "build bays" on my bench (actually Chinese takeaway tubs). My Porsche All three cars had these identical chassis and mechanicals. The purist and pedant in me is a little offended by these cars but for that race meeting we decided to build cars to the limits of the regulations and not worry too much about the aesthetics. David

Ah ha. A time warp, eh? 1962 cars with 1967 tires.

David,
What is the weight of the chassis and mechanicals?
What gear ratio are you using for the cars?
Best regards,

Mark
When the retro scene took off at Wolverhampton about 7 or 8 years ago we built cars fairly heavy but it soon was obvious that lightweights was the way to go.
These three cars all weghed about 60gms each and were geared at about 3:1 for Wolves using the 25,000rpm ScaleAuto slimline motor.
The purist in me is slightly offended by the 1967 tyres on a 1961/62 car but thems were the rules...
