Hi all, I am a "middle aged" IT professional who grew up in South Africa and enjoyed the Golden era of the local SA domestic Formula 1 series. Besides the annual South African Grand Prix at Kyalami, I also had the priveledge of enjoying the GP circus visiting my local Roy Hesketh circuit 4 times each year for rounds of the domestic Formula 1 series. With both parents activly involved at the track, my brother and I had free reign around the paddock and pits. I fondly recall the thrill of being allowed by Eddie Pinto, Team Gunston mechanic, to help clean the wheels of John Love's Lotus 49, while it was parked alonside Sam Tingles LDS in the large marquee used by Team Gunston.
I have lived in Auckland, New Zealand for the past 16 years and am enjoying catching up on the Formula 5000 revival series that is run here each year with fields of over 25 cars, many of them running ex F1 chassis. At present my slot builds are focused around the cars raced in the SA GP's from 1968 through to 1975 which carried the cigarette sponsorship from Gunston and Lucky Strike.

Hi Wayne,
It is good to have you on board. It is great that you were able to get "up close and personal" with the real cars that you are now creating in miniature!
I have seen some of your builds on another forum and they look great. Please post some pictures here also as they are quality cars and well worth sharing with us.
All the best, Philip
