Having omitted to introduce myself when joining the Forum a few weeks ago, greetings to all from rural Herefordshire. Regrettably, I discovered slotting very late in life having spent a career as author/journalist working with real cars. I have a small collection of, perhaps, 300 slot cars and have recently started building my own for the usual reasons.
I have a passion for all racing cars and have professionally interviewed many of the people who designed, built and raced them. Now retired I enjoy nothing more than chums arriving at my house once a week to race slot cars.
The skill so admirably displayed on this forum provides nothing but inspiration to those of us aspiring to build our favourite cars to such exacting standards. With declining eyesight the best I can hope to achieve is a shell atop a Pitlane chassis, or the construction of George Turner's marvellous kits. However, I enjoy using them as much as I enjoyed thrashing around tracks in real cars.
My most grateful thanks to all of you; the contributions and photographs here provide ample evidence that my long and happy memories at the world's tracks haven't been fogged by the passage of time.
All in good time
